Abstract: 

Pollution of water and soils by heavy metals is an emerging problem in industrialized countries. The present study was conducted to investigate the heavy metals concentration in water and sediment samples from SHIP breaking sites of Sitakunda to assess the potential ecological risk posed by heavy metal using different methods. Heavy metals concentration was analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. Concentrations of all the tested heavy metals except Cr in water samples of SHIP breaking site, Sitakunda were lower than recommended values. The mean concentration of Cr was found 0.511±0.284 mg/l. Concentrations of all the tested heavy metals except Mn in sediment samples were higher than standard limit. The concentrations of Pb, Mn, Cr, Cu and Zn in the sediment were 55.93±18.70, 20.08±4.03, 106.8±47.65, 50.09±18.31, and 70.71±19.45 mg/kg, respectively. Based on Geoaccumulation Index, Contamination factor, Sediment Quality Guidelines, the sediment of SHIP breaking site can be treated as unpolluted to moderately polluted with Pb, Zn, Cr and Cu but unpolluted with Mn. The Enrichment factors of Pb, Mn, Cr, Cu and Zn in the sediment were: 2.97±0.98, 0.035±0.008, 1.97±0.88, 1.99±0.73, and 1.17±0.32, respectively. The Enrichment factor (>1) in all sampling sites, suggesting source of those metals (Pb, Cr, Cu and Zn) were more likely to be anthropogenic. Based on the Potential Ecological Risk Index the SHIP breaking site posed to low risk to the environment. The results of present study clearly indicated that the SHIP breaking site was moderately polluted with heavy metals and pose low risk to the ecosystem.

Abstract: 

THE SHIP RECYCLING PROCESS, WHICH IS DONE IN SEA-LAND AREA AND POLLUTES THE COASTAL ECOSYSTEM, IS MENTIONED AS A CONCERNING ISSUE FOR INDUSTRIAL AND DEVELOPING SOCIETIES CONSIDERING THEIR ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND SAFETY ISSUES. THE POLLUTION AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL DESTRUCTION POWER OF THE SHIP RECYCLING PROCESS CAN BE REDUCED TO ITS MINIMUM SIZE BASED ON ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT, RIGHT LOCATING, COLLECTION AND RECYCLING OF HAZARDOUS WASTES, AND ENVIRONMENTAL EVALUATION. UNDERSTANDING THIS ISSUE THAT IN MARINE INDUSTRY AND OTHER INDUSTRIES, THE ROLE OF MAN-POWER IS WORTHY, THE IMPORTANCE OF PAYING ATTENTION TO ISSUES SUCH AS SAFETY, HEALTH AND EDUCATION OF THIS HUMAN CAPITAL GETS CLEAR MORE THAN EVER. THE PURPOSES OF SHIP RECYCLING CONVENTION ASSOCIATED WITH ENVIRONMENT HAZARDS, OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SHIP RECYCLING SAFETY ARE: A) ACHIEVING THE BEST METHOD AND OPTION FOR REMOVING THE WORN-OUT SHIPS; B) CREATION OF A BIDING LEGAL DOCUMENT ASSOCIATED WITH SHIPS RECYCLING; AND C) ACHIEVING A PRECAUTIONARY APPROACH ASSOCIATED WITH ENVIRONMENT PROBLEMS.

Abstract: 

In this article the issue of integrated storage space assignment together with berth allocation for import containers in a container terminal is extended. This problem is adopted from a real world situation in which the type of container affects the decision making process for the storage space assignment problem. A two-level approach is proposed to solve this problem. The storage space allocation problem and the berth assignment problem are formulated as mathematical programming models in two consecutive levels. In the first level, the import containers are assigned to the storage blocks in order to minimize the storage/retrieval times of the containers. The vessels are then allocated to the berth locations in the second level according to the results obtained from the first level in order to minimize the total distance traveled by container handling equipments between the storage blocks and the vessel berth locations in the yard. The performance of the extended model is examined and verified by a number of numerical examples.

Abstract: 

Iranian Bagh (garden), whose, based on some historic documents, origin goes back to at least the Achaemenian epoch, has had some basic and unique characteristics that makes them distinguishable from other types of gardens in other cultures. Some of these characteristics, such as the Chahar Bagh plan, and the use of checkered nets, have been almost always used in Iranian gardens. After the Ghajar epoch, under the influence of European culture and architecture designing circumstances of Iranian gardens has been transformed. Certain spaces, where the usage of curve and non-symmetrical lines and planes were the major characteristics, came in sight. Such green arenas, imitating the European ones, were named Park. We can see some of these parks, which received attention of the nobles and dignitaries, and then used for designing of public green arenas, in the map of Tehran during the Ghajar epoch. These early parks were like private gardens, regarding their ownerSHIP and usages. By the Pahlavies epoch, contemporaneous with some fundamental and structural transformations in urban texture and usages and some changes in construction of residential units that lead to reducing in size of the their YARDS and green arena, we can see the emergence of a new kind of urban green areas which were designed and constructed for public usages, unlike the early parks which had private ownerSHIP and uses. They lacked also physically, built space such as what could be find in the gardens.

Abstract: 

شناورهای اثر سطحی (SES) از جمله پیشرفته ترین طرحهای دریایی می باشند. این شناورها با استفاده از اثر سطح و با ایجاد لایه ای از هوای فشرده به راحتی بر روی سطح آب به حرکت در می آیند. به همین دلیل بکار گیری تجهیزات دفاعی زیر سطحی در رابطه با نابودی این شناورها بسیار مشکل و ناممکن می باشد. مینهای فشاری، مغناطیسی و حتی اژدرها کاربری چندانی در تهدید شناورهای اثر سطحی نداشته و به همین جهت از این دسته شناورها در زمینه مقاصد نظامی استفاده می گردد. در این مقاله ضمن بررسی ویژگیهای ساختاری شناورهای SES به تحلیل ویژگیهای این شناورها در مقابله با تهدیدات زیر سطحی پرداخته می شود.

Abstract: 

As more and more container terminals open up all over the world, competition for business is becoming very intense for container terminal operators. They are finding out that even to keep their existing Sea Line customers, they have to make them happy by offering higher quality service. The quality of service they can provide depends on their operating policies and the design of the terminal layout. Existing layouts based on designs prepared a long time ago pose inherent limitations. We summarize some of these problems, and report on newer operating policies and designs which can help improve performance.

Abstract: 

In situations where, according to research, interactions among people are considered to be one of the most important human needs, this matter, for various reasons has been neglected and forgotten. Regardless of rationalizations such as cultural and economic reasons and so forth, the lack of spaces that have the ability to create such interactions seems to be certain. In the contemporary era, as compared to the past, houses no longer have spaces for social interaction. Meanwhile, a study of Iran's architecture and urban planning will indicate the making of social interactions in different spaces of historical houses. This research has specifically considered the courtYARDS of historical houses. Therefore, the basic question here is what were the intrinsic and external characteristics of spaces such as courtYARDS in historical houses that could provide such a capability? In this regard, the goal of this study is to find out the reasons for the success of the courtYARDS of historical houses in improving the level of social interaction from the perspective of the residents of these houses, because these people, due to their lived experience, can answer the question better than others. This research was done using systematic data-based theory. In this regard, conducting interviews and then analyzing the data led to the formation of a model that shows how, from the perspective of the residents, historical courtYARDS, with facilities for collective gathering such as flexible design and having environmental capabilities, could achieve such a capability.
